Fabric and Yarn Take Out Menu

Retirement sounded like such a good idea a few weeks ago!! It seems a little more daunting now that I have a sales agreement on my building and we are in the midst of a pandemic. I want to thank you for all of the well-wishes, cards, and sentiments. It has been such a pleasure to be a part of the quilting and knitting community!

I would like to proceed with caution in conducting this retirement/going out of business sale. We will proceed in one week increments, and will keep you posted via email and facebook as to what the next steps are.

  • Store Hours are now: Tuesday-Friday 10-5, Sat. 10-4. Sundays by appointment, Monday closed.
  • Sale starts Tuesday, March 24th at 20% off absolutely everything except hand-made items. There will be many other discounts beyond this.
  • We will follow Governor Mill’s guidelines for social distancing, regular disinfection of hard surfaces, and limiting the number of people in the store to a total of 10 including employees.

Safety First:
We are taking precautions here like wiping down hard surfaces, door knobs, cash out area, & bathroom to keep the things as clean as possible. We have 3 hand washing stations that our customers are welcome to use. (The bathroom, kitchen area, and classroom sinks can all be used). As we can get hand sanitizer, we will have that around as well. We will have tissues readily available for the errant sneeze or cough. We ask that you adhere to coughing and sneezing etiquette, and that you try to main social distance standards as much as possible. We are re-arranging our sale area and checkout area to facilitate easier shopping & ability to maintain social distance.

Each of us will monitor our own health and stay home if we have the slightest signs of congestion, and we ask that our customers do the same.

For those of you who really don’t want to or can not come to the store, here are some options for you:

  • We will be featuring an item or two each day that you can order on line, email or phone. This will be sort of like one last Stuff Your Stocking!!
  • For those who live in the area, just call or email that you want the item and we will check you out curbside.
  • For those who are not able to get to the store, we can mail your purchases at the end of each week.
  • We will be your personal shoppers. You can identify a quilt pattern that you want to make and give us a the colors you would like. For example, you might want to do the Athena’s puzzle pattern shown in the picture at right. Here is one that we did for a customer in purples. You could give us your preferred color way and we will put the kit together for you. We can send pictures to assure it is to your liking.
  • You can call us (207-784-4486 or email us info@quilt-essentials.com and let us know if there is some other way we can help you shop without you being in the store.

So here are some options:

  • If you are local, you may select your merchandise, and if it is a large order, you can leave. We will prepare the order for you to pick up at an agreed upon time, which will minimize the amount of time you need to be in the store.
  • You may also call ahead and we can send you pictures of certain parts of the store, sale fabrics as an example, so that you can be better prepared to pick out what you would like.
  • Once you are here, we will ask you to limit your visit to 90 minutes so that others can have access as well. We encourage you to bring some hand work or a book so that your wait time will be as pleasurable as possible. For your safety and ours, we will be limiting the number of people in the shop to 10.
  • Another option for you is to call us to make an appointment to shop…..I will have appointment hours on Sundays, morning appointments between 8 and 10am and evenings between 5 and 7 are also a possibility. We are committed to finding ways for you to shop this sale as safely as possible.

Many of you have become used to having us help you to pick out fabrics for a quilt or get help with a knitting problem. During this time, we will need to devote ourselves to the expediting the retail end of our operation, so that we can get people in and out as quickly as possible. We want to assure that everyone can have access and have as safe a shopping experience as possible.

We will try this procedure for next week, and will make adjustments based on guidance from state and local officials, and how this works for both you and the shop. We appreciate your patience and the interest you have all shone in helping me find homes for my merchandise. Thanks so much!!
